Bosch PCE2-XL electric coolant intercooler battery circulation heater water pump
Bosch PCE2-XL electric coolant fluid pump
The Bosch PCE2-XL is the next generation Bosch PCE series pump, offering higher flow/higher maximum pressure capability in a lighter weight and slightly more compact package envelope as the previous PCE pump. This electric coolant pump can be used as an intercooler fluid circulation pump in turbocharged and supercharged engines, as an auxiliary coolant pump in HVAC systems and as a battery, motor and/or inverter coolant circulation pump in EV and hybrid vehicle applications.
The PCE2-XL Bosch pump is capable of operating at higher differential pressures than previous PCE pump (for exmaple the 0 392 024 078 and the 0 392 024 058). The PCE2-XL draws roughly the same current as the 078 Bosch pump but more current that the 058. Compared to the 058 pump it draws 8 amps vs 6 amps so be sure to size your fuse and wire accordingly. Although the rated flow advertised by Bosch appears lower than the 058 (1000 vs 1200 lph) and the same as the 078, the rated flow for this pump is at a higher differential pressure so at the same differential pressure this pump actually outflows the other two (and can also operate at higher maximum restriction levels than the earlier PCE pumps). This means in real world conditions where fluid restriction often causes differential pressures to exceed 0.6 bar (8.7 psi), this pump will outflow the 0 392 024 058 and the 0 392 024 078 pumps despite the seemingly lower or similar flow rate.
The PCE2-XL pump uses the same electrical connector as most other PCE pumps including the 058 and 078 pumps.
PSS offers two harnesses and a connector kit compatible with this pump:
- For those that are upgrading from the old, much larger and lower flow Bosch PCA pumps found in many earlier supercharged vehicles, we offer a plug and play adapter harness to go from the 2-pin Jetronic/minitimer connector to the 3-pin MCON / Kostal MLK 1.2 connector. This is PSS part # PSS-Minitimer2MCon and can be found here:
- We also offer a stand-alone, heavy duty fused relay harness for the PCE pumps. That is part # PSS-PCE-1002 and can be found here:
- And then for those that want to modify the OEM harness or make a new harness themselves, we offer a connector kit that has the correct mating connector housing, terminals and seals for connectoing to the Bosch PCE pumps. The 3-pin MCON / Kostal MLK 1.2 connector kit is part # PSS-MCON-1000 and can be found on ebay here:
